Disney Interactive is bringing Disney Infinity’s Jack Skellington to Australian stores. The Pumpkin King of Halloween Town is all scared up and ready to show off his unique charm to Disney Infinity players.

Disney Infinity brings 5 new Toy Boxes to download and play

               

 

Players can download the new Toy Boxes by selecting "Toy Box" from the Disney Infinity Main Menu and then select "Toy Box Share" and "Disney's Toy Boxes." Once there they will see a list of all the featured Toy Boxes and can choose one to download.  Check them out in the videos below.

MELBOURNE, Vic. – (AUGUST 22, 2013) – Disney Interactive today launched the company’s largest and most ambitious gaming initiative to date, Disney Infinity for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation^®3 system, Wii U™ system, Wii^™ system and Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system. The starter pack features the game software, the Infinity Base, three character figures and Play Sets inspired by the worlds of The Incredibles, Monsters University and Pirates of the Caribbean, one Power Disc pack, a trading card with a web code and countless hours of creative play in the groundbreaking Toy Box mode. 

“Disney Infinity allows players the creative freedom to bring to life original adventures that are only limited by their own imaginations,” said John Pleasants, co-president, Disney Interactive. “We are excited to see how our Guests will combine Disney and Pixar characters to create all new stories that they can share with friends and family across gaming systems.”

In a way that only Disney can, each Disney Infinity character figure will come to life and play together in a virtual “Toy Box,” where they can build and customize their own unique virtual worlds using their favorite characters, vehicles, settings and more.   The game also includes  story-driven experiences, called “Play Sets,” which allow players to solve challenging puzzles, battle enemies and explore iconic locations from famous Disney properties. 

Disney Infinity is available now on Xbox 360, PlayStation  3, Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.  Unique play experiences are available for Wii and 3DS systems, and on mobile devices.  The Disney Infinity starter pack carries a suggested retail price of $89.95 AUD and all versions are rated PG by the ARB.  The Lone Ranger andCars Play Sets are available separately for a suggested retail price of $39.95.

Disney Infinity is a game that took me a few days to full understand. At first glance it looks like it is just a quick cash-in on the Skylanders craze. But then I learnt more about the Toy Box and thought ok, they have added more content in the vein of Little Big Planet 2. But still I felt there was more to know about this game. So learnt more and more, and now I can’t wait for the game.

If you’re not familiar with Disney Infinity, it is a video game that recreates those moments when we were kids where you would take your Transformer toy and you’re GI Joe, or perhaps some race cars, get some floor space and make up your own adventures. That’s what Disney Infinity does, and based on early impressions it is doing it very well.

When you get the starter pack you get 3 figures, Sully from Monsters Inc., Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles, and the base plate.

Now each of the characters comes with a play space for them. Jack Sparrow will allow you to take to the High Seas or the rowdy pirate town of Tortuga to experience missions and objectives as a pirate. And same with the others, but it’s upon playing through each of those worlds that the fun can really begin. As you progress through the worlds you unlock items for the Toy Box mode, and that’s where you can let your imagination sore, and your character if you give them some wings.

Toy Box mode takes that idea of anything goes to a whole new level. You start off with a basic space, and then you can theme it with Hex Discs, which sit at the back of the base plate. You want the sky to look like it does in Wall-e then you can. How about the ground looks like Niceland from Wreck-it Ralph, you can do that. Then you can build a town, maybe a soccer field, a race track, a 2D platformer, a 3D platformer, a flying game. I think you get the idea.

Each of the worlds you create can be uploaded to your online account and then you can save them down to your iPad and continue to make them while travelling. Of course you might make a great world that you think rocks, so you can submit them to Disney and if they are appropriate then Disney will share them with the world. So your friend who has a different console than you can download and experience your world.

Add to that the fact that Disney will continue to release new characters and playsets, the game will never end.

Disney Infinity hits next week and is looking like it will be a smash hit, and something I cannot wait to play myself.

Disney Infinity Takes Combat to a new level

Disney Infinity is going to be a game that you never stop playing because it offers up so much content. And thats before you hit up the ToyBox and start making your own games.



Combat is going to be a great part of this game, and of course each character will have their own attacks, but they can be customised by using the power discs. For example, adding Bolt's Super Strength Disc to the bottom of the character on the portal, will give that character an extra 10% damage capibility.

So what are Power Discs, well simply put they change the game in amazing way. Placing a round disc under the character will allow you to give that character an item they can use, like a blaster gun, a sword or such. 

Using the other disc, will provide an item that can be used in the game by any player. Check out the images below and watch the video to see it all in action.
